The Real Time Communication on the Web (RTC-Web) effort is an attempt to define the standards for the protocols, interfaces and APIs that we need to get real-time communcation, including audio and video, passed directly between users of Web browsers without the need for a proprietary plugin. The activity was kicked off by a workshop in October 2010; the details are in the pages below. Currently (December 2010), the idea is being socialized with the W3C and the IETF, and discussion is taking place on the "rtc-web@alvestrand.no" mailing list - use rtc-web-request@alvestrand.no to subscribe.
